If so, you may be interested in applying to serve as our next Executive Director.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>See our job description below<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TITLE<\/strong> Executive Director<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION<\/strong> Part-time, contract employment; exempt from overtime<\/p>\n<p><strong>REPORTS TO<\/strong> Board of Directors<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUMMARY<\/strong> Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) is the sole staff person for Scenic Michigan (SM) and will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for programs and execution of its mission. S\/he\/they will initially develop deep knowledge of the organization\u2019s history, mission, and operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage membership program and expand revenue generating and fundraising activities to support programs and operations<\/li>\n<li>Develop communication materials, manage social media accounts, and maintain and enhance organizational website (WordPress)<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the public face of SM, representing the organization in front of a wide variety of external audiences including the State Legislature and local governmental bodies<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and help direct mission-focused legal and legislative policy<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with both public and private organizations to further SM\u2019s goals of implementing good signage and lighting practices in Michigan, among other scenic goals.<\/li>\n<li>Develop annual work plans and budgets to achieve SM\u2019s strategic goals and systems to track progress that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents<\/li>\n<li>Develop, maintain, and support a strong board of directors, serve as ex-officio of each board committee, and seek and build board involvement with strategic direction<\/li>\n<li>Work with the board treasurer to ensure consistent quality of finance and fundraising<\/li>\n<li>Travel occasionally within Michigan to represent SM and realize strategic goals<\/li>\n<li>Arrange quarterly Board meetings<\/li>\n<li>Maintain SM office in Ann Arbor, including records and files. Board would consider transitioning this position to a remote workplace anywhere in Michigan.<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A bachelor\u2019s degree in relevant field, a master\u2019s degree is preferred<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of five years of relevant work experience&#8211; nonprofit senior management, fundraising, legislative, community development\/planning, and\/or local government experience is preferred<\/li>\n<li>Strong verbal and written communications skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong competency using Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Proficiency with Quickbooks and WordPress preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of and passion for protecting Michigan\u2019s scenic beauty through sign regulation and other means<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORK ENVIRONMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Work is primarily performed in an indoor, environmentally controlled office setting with extended periods at a computer and on the telephone. The nature of the work includes contact with the public&nbsp; and requires strong communication skills and an ease with multitasking in a self-directed environment. Work hours are generally flexible. Board of Directors is supportive and forward-thinking. This position is a dream job for an individual seeking creative-freedom and motivated by a compelling mission, in a relaxed work environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMPENSATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Compensation $28,000 to $32,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Reimbursed travel and related expenses<\/li>\n<li>No benefits<\/li>\n<li>Office and free parking (car and bike) in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
